HEBREW WORDS

YADAH (Strong 3034) – ‘Yad’, an open hand – to revere and worship with extended hands. “Praise the Lord for his mercy endures forever…” To extend hands or throw out hands in worship (2 Chronicles 20:19-21, Psalm 63:4)

TOWDAH (Strong 8426) – From ‘Yadah’, an extension of the hands, “Whoever offers praise glorifies me”, to extend hands in adoration and thanksgiving (Psalm 50:23, 134:2, 141:2)

HALAL (Strong 1984) “Praise ye the Lord” To shine, boast, rave, celebrate, be clamorously foolish. ‘Hallelujah’ (Psalm 150)

SHABACH (Strong 7623) “My lips shall praise thee” To address in a loud tone, to shout, to command glory, to triumph (Psalm 63:1-4, 117:1, Psalm 47:1, 35:27)

BARAK (Strong 1288) “Daily shall he be praised” To kneel in adoration, to bless (Psalm 72:12-15)

ZAMAR (Strong 2167) “I will sing and give praise” Strike with the fingers, to touch the strings or parts of a musical instrument, accompanied by the voice, to celebrate in song and music (Psalm 57:7-9; 92:1, Psalm 150, 1 Chronicles 15:16)

TEHILLAH (thillah) (Strong 8416) from ‘halal’, collection of halals “You inhabit the praises of Israel” A form of high praise (spiritual songs, prophetic) (Psalm 22:3, 100:4, 2 Chronicles 5:12-14, 2 Chronicles 22)

GUHL (giyl) (Strong 1523) “He will joy over you with singing” To spin around under the influence of a violent, abundant emotion and joy, exceeding gladness (Zephaniah 3:17, Psalm 32:11)

GREEK WORD

PROSKUNEO (Strong 4352) From ‘kuon’ kiss, to fawn, and prostrate self in homage, “Worship him that lives forever” To bend down in reverence and worship.
